Judge William W. "Bill" West

Judge WilliamWilliam W. “Bill” West was admitted to the Georgia Bar in June 1978, at which time he became general counsel for a major transportation company in Atlanta, Georgia, until October 1988, when he began a private law practice handling criminal defense, domestic relations and probate cases. Since 1989, he has served as either a part-time judge of the Clayton County Magistrate Court or the Municipal Courts of Jonesboro, Forest Park and Riverdale, Georgia. He has been a registered neutral mediating general and domestic relations cases since 2013.

Bill served as an officer of the Clayton County Bar Association from 1989 through 1993; participated in the Clayton County Pro Bono Project since 1993; and provided pro bono services to clients of the Henry County Haven House since 2000. In recognition of his service, he has received awards from Insider’s Teen Center in Forest Park, Georgia, Eagle’s Landing Church of God in Stockbridge, Georgia, Governmental Purchasing Association of Georgia, and Clayton County Pro Bono Project.

After serving one tour of combat duty in Vietnam, Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Army in June 1971 as a Sergeant and was awarded several medals, including the Bronze Star. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Atlanta Law School in 1978. He has been married to the former Rose Allgood since 1969. They have two sons and two grand-daughters. Bill and Rose enjoy fishing and landscaping.
