Judge Marcus Thorpe

Judge Marcus ThorpeJudge Marcus Thorpe graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology before earning his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University Law School. Licensed to practice in Indiana, Georgia, Illinois, and Missouri, he launched his legal career as a prosecutor in Marion County, Indiana, specializing in domestic violence cases. Subsequently, he gained experience as an associate at a prominent law firm representing clients across Illinois and Missouri.

Returning to his roots in 2007, Judge Thorpe dedicated himself to his passion for prosecution, serving in ey roles at the Clayton County Solicitor General’s Office, Clayton County District Attorney’s Office, Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and Henry County District Attorney’s Office over a span of 13 years. In 2020, he transitioned to the Bader law firm, focusing on personal injury law while maintaining an active role as an attorney.

Judge Thorpe was appointed Associate Magistrate Judge at Clayton County Magistrate Court in October 2018 and reappointed in December 2023. He is a distinguished member of the Georgia Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, Indiana Bar Association, Georgia Trial Lawyers of America, Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and currently serves as President of the Clayton County Bar Association. Outside of his legal career, Judge Thorpe enjoys travel, fitness, and has dedicated 15 years to volunteering with the Georgia Mock Trial High School Competition.
